I am a USAT Level II, USAT Youth & Junior Elite Certified Coach and Training Peaks Level 2 Certified Coach. Over 30 years ago I began my coaching journey as a summer swim instructor and I have been coaching multisport & endurance athletes of all abilities for the past 15 years.

My athletic background is rooted in soccer where I played through college. While I did not realize it at the time, chasing a soccer ball all those years helped form a strong aerobic foundation which would eventually serve me well in triathlon. I actually used to abhor running and could never figure out why anyone would want to go out and just run, let alone participate in any running race. My post-collegiate athletic endeavors consisted of playing on a team in the local men's beer league with some high school buddies.

At the age of 30 I did my first triathlon - a local sprint race with the goal simply finishing and perhaps having some bragging rights among friends. Like many of us, I became hooked and raced three years as a competitive age grouper. With some modest success I decided to make a go at racing professionally which I did until the age of 45. Being an "older" athlete without top end swim speed, the majority of my racing was focused on long course distances.. It was an incredible journey and I am grateful for the opportunities it afforded me. Whether it was a local race in Boulder or toeing the line against the best athletes at the Ironman World Championships, race day was always exciting.

The training process though was where I really cultivated a passion for the sport which eventually led me to coaching full-time. Being part of the D3 team the past six years has been a fantastic experience and looking forward to continued growth of our team!
