  • Describe a little bit about yourself and your interest in triathlon

I started triathlon right before turning 30 when I was looking for a hobby to replace soccer. My dad is a swimmer, my brother was running marathons, and my business partner is a cyclist. I decided to give triathlon a go, with no background in any of the three sports, and I was hooked. I signed up for my first Ironman weeks after finishing my first triathlon, and haven't looked back.

I've made several silly mistakes much like signing up for that first Ironman in the years since, but have no regrets. I love that there's so much room for improvement in all three disciplines, but having to train three separate sports keeps it from ever getting monotonous or boring.

My physiology that was never quite ideal for soccer or the other explosive sports of my youth ended up being pleasantly well suited to long course endurance. I may not be the fastest sprinter, or able to lift the heaviest weights, but I adapt well to long training sessions, and being relatively efficient at moderately hard efforts. Excited to see how hard work and time can combine with some natural advantages, and seeing what I can push myself to in this sport.
